Lorries flashing
on: October 03, 2008, 22:40:19 PM
Ive noticed a few times when I bbrrrrrmmmmm past a lorry and then get back in the slow lane they flash me with their headlights. I know why they do this for other lorries but Im in a mini. Are they gay for my driving skills or are they being ironic or what?
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.

Depends how soon you pull it, if you are cutting them up they are probably giving you the "you C*nt" flash.  If you drive a mini like most other mini drivers then its quite likely.    -)

I often considered its just force of habit, flashing the overtaking driver in. Probably dont even know they are doing it

Usually because you are driving to close so they cant see you behind.. bascically if you cant see their wing mirrors, they cant see you.
Cant exactly cut them up if your going faster than them, unless your trying to squeeze into a gap

Ive always thought its to let people in.....

Ive driven to london and back in a 27tonner a few times and its BORING as hell trunderling along the motorway at 55mph....  flashing people in just gives you something to do ;)

I think its just to let you know to pull in, dont think they are being bastards.

But seems a bit silly when you are in a mini, but I used to get the same thing in my mini (Maybe they just think you havent got your lights on because of the candles that usually power mini lights)

UK I dont know about but in sweden they flash turnsignals
towards the middle of the road = dont pass !!!!, to the side of the road = it is ok to pass, if they helped you to pass you flash turnsignals  left and right + left and right  to say thanx for the help and they answer your thanx by flashing the head lights.

That would confuse the hell out of me. Id see a turn signal and be sat there trying to figure out why the lorry wants to overtake, or pull into the hard shoulder...

Well, of course you have to evaluate  the situation yourself but but if he in the UK signals to the right it is no good idea to pass in any case so it is not so hard it should not be to confusing.

It happens a lot on quiter roads zpyder.. you approach the lorry so he can see you in his wing mirror, as the lorry driver has a longer vision of the road than you, he indicates letting you know its safe to pass
