Just wondering if anyone has ever been into magic

aside from having the paul daniels magic kit as a kid Ive never really bothered with it - but recently been thinking about looking at other hobbies etc.. & thought it would be quite cool to perfect a few tricks - just stuff you can do down the pub etc...

have seen a few websites selling stuff - just wondering if anyone has any tips on where to start or can recommend any good books.

Learnt a few card tricks in the past :) but to be honest card tricks are the only ones worth learning. Things like coin behind the ear is for kids. :) Cards still astound older folk :)

Personally I bought the Magic Circle card trick thing. Huge box full of cards basically. a rigged deck, along with normal cards with a twist :)

I had that Paul Daniels magic kit/book when I was kid.  Tried a few of the tricks and never really go the hang of it tbh.

lol - think alans got the right idea there

m3 - some coin tricks are really effective though - everyone has seen card tricks but there is more cover for coin tricks. i.e. randomly pulling some cards out in a bar/club is going to look suspect - asking a girl if she has a 10p coin after youve chatted to her for a bit & then making the coin go through a glass table or pushing a fag through it or biting a bit off it etc.. can look pretty impressive
