My team, or my wedding day!!!

Possible dilemma!

I'm getting married a week on Saturday, and we're having a fairly big do (inlaws paid for it) - nice church, nice reception, usual stuff.

However my beloved Shrewsbury Town are in a very strong position to get promotion to league 1 and they have a match against Dagenham on that day that could clinch promotion....

Game kicks off at 3 which is just before the reception. Suspect there  will be a large Shrewsbury party in the carpark with radios and internet - I wonder how much I can get away with disappearing to go join them!? :)

Depends on the manner of formality you're going for and how many guests, usually at weddings you spent a lot of time away from each other chatting to guests and doing the thank you's, so I'd imagine you can slip away for the odd update if you're very careful, just heed soopah's warning ;D

Have a no radio/tv policy at the reception so no chance of spoilers. Arrange for a tech-savvy friend to record the match onto DVD for you. Take DVD with you on honey money and watch it at your leisure. You get to see the game and your wife will be happier than if you neglect her and her guests at the reception for a football game.

Weddings always start with the best of intentions at the planning stage but quickly become a farce that has nothing to do with the actual couple.

So my vote is on watching the game.  ;)

Just before the reception?

Does your Mrs have to get changed, put on new makeup etc etc.. That could buy you some time, the rest of the time may be achievable by careful cunning planning, or arrange for her to be pampered as a surprise gift to her, or some other thing to get her out of the way for a bit, she doesn't need o know what you are up to ;)

Massive oversight arranging the wedding when assumedly the fixtures hadn't been released! D&R suck and you should stroll it, I used to hate going to their stadium :thumbdown:

Methinks you're gonna have to just suck it up and get updates as and when you can, something else to celebrate though isn't it! :cheers:

If not a trip to wimbleydon?
