He wanted to win, bringing on two proven goal scorers as opposed to resting them and playing an unknown formula proves that he wanted the win.

That and the fact that in the post-match he pretty much admitted that winning the group was very important.

bring on crouch a winning discision.
Its just keeping in with his 4-4-2 formula

while im in a ranting mood, lampard should just go home
hes way of form.

j Cole was on good form mind

brummie, you dont seem to be able to grasp flowing prose, so ill make it easy for you, get a piece of card, put it under the text and follow it with your finger...

1) We can score quality goals, as shown with Joe Coles effort.

2) We cant then lock down the midfield, by keeping the ball, after we score.

When 2) happens, the opposition [we will play] can break forward and make inroads - possibly scoring. You see, Saviola, Ronaldo, Crespo, Torres only need half a chance to score...

Geddit? I hope so.

Cole was brilliant as was Allback for the Swedes.

Exciting match at any rate, good verve and drive and little time spent diddling in midfield.

lmfao, Im willing to bet that the German Police are pleased that the football supporting members of tekforums decided to stay in their respective countries and not meet up in Germany !

There is more hostility on here than has been reported from the entire tournement so far :o

To get back on topic;
England will seriously have to pull their socks up if they intend to go further than the next match. With the way we are defending, both set pieces and open play, I can see us getting skinned alive by the faster paced players opponents :/

God I hope we start to sort it out, I really want us to get the final this year.

As it was billed before the match, we needed a good result and a good performance.

Did we get either?

I think the result we got was good enough. Although I wonder how much wed regret not playing Germany next if we end up facing them in the Final ! If Germany get that far they will, imvho, be unstoppable.

The performance wasnt all bad, there were definate good points but they were heavily outweighed by our distinct lake of ability when it comes to defending. I cannot believe what a shocker Campbell and A. Cole had, especially as a Gooner whod normally be singing their praises all the way to anyone whod listen !

I thought Owen Hargreaves had a really good 1st half and a not so good 2nd half.  However, I believe we changed our style of play and he struggled with it.
