You used to play videogames all night. Your Quake prowess was unmatched; your skills at Command & Conquer unparalleled. You have a gaming history that stretches back beyond the PlayStation generation to the SNES, Megadrive, Amiga and ZX Spectrum. You were there at the dawn of gaming.Tick-tock... Time passes. Youve quietly come to realise that youre not the hard-core gamer you used to be. Even your Xbox 360 Gamertag seems far too sensible. How do you know that a mid-life gaming crisis is setting in? Watch out for these warning signs...* You prefer playing against the computer* You only play when your girlfriend is out* You believe that winning isnt everything* Its been days, not hours since you last switched on your console* Youre the oldest person trading in games at GameStation* You like your Xbox 360 and your PS3 equally* You fondly remember a golden age of gaming* You avoid playing on the Wii because its too much effort* Your FPS experience consists of spawn, run, die... spawn, run, die... spawn...* You find the idea of videogames based on board games perfectly acceptable* Youve pre-ordered GTA IV but dont mind if it doesnt turn up on launch day
* Its been days, not hours since you last switched on your console
Im well past my gaming prime sadly Its something I hope to rekindle given time.
I was there at the dawn of gaming playing manic miner and jet set willy.I think games these games are too complicated.

Everyone knows true hardcore gamers use PCs.I realised I was no longer a hard core gamer when I realised I could now countenance the idea of buying a console. Theres also the fact that I basically dont care that its almost impossible to play anything more complex than tetris on Linux. Time was, that would have been (and was) a show stopper.
