1TB / 2TB Drives - Suggestions
on: February 22, 2011, 22:28:13 PM
Just looking for a couple of drives for my new D-Link NAS, any recommendations or just have a look at review sites?

Aria have the below two with free next day..

2TB Samsung HD204UI Spinpoint F4 SATA-II 3.5" Hard Drive - 61.99

2TB Seagate Barracuda LP ST2000DL003 Hard Drive - SATA 6GB/S - 62.99

But I have no idea what's good and what's not anymore? I think the sumsung will need flashing which will be a bit of a PITA..

I don't trust Seagate after the recent click of death drive batches they've made, so Samsung would be my first choice except for the flashing issue. I've no idea what WD are like at the moment with their drives.

Personally it would be the Samsung and flash it since you can get a good price + del on it.

The flash is a PITA for sure, but I have 2x sammys now, both 2TB and both on a lot of the time, work great

Cheers both, looks like I'm going to end up having to pull apart my media PC to flash them then, as everything else I have is an atom or laptop :)

Just ordered, but didn't quite get it at that price, as they were on super special and it's only 1 per order, so had to order one through google checkout as well, but has a few quid delivery on there :S

Just be aware they are grey imports so your warranty is with scan (who are sh*ts on RMAs) not Samsung! that's what the Z4 means apparently (Another HUKD post :P)

Pretty much, or just cancel your order and order for a little bit more from somewhere else, Amazon seem to have quite a good price, but apparently their HD packaging is a bit sparse!

Hence I got mine from Aria :)
