Change default print settings (Canon ip4300)
on: April 24, 2009, 14:27:50 PM
Hi All.

I swapped out my parents old HP A3 printer, with my Canon ip4300, the old ones been going strong since we got it when I was at college 7+ years ago, but the quality isnt what it used to be and it seems to chew through cartridges.

The other reason I swapped is my dad keeps printing out emails and web pages and not changing the print settings to only print the page he wants, ending up with lots of sheets with 2 lines on etc going in the bin. The canon does duplex, and I am pretty sure a year or so ago when it was connected to my computer I found a way to change the default settings so that the default was duplex on all profiles. Now it seems the only info I can find is that if you go through control panel/printers and change the setting there, it changes the profile for all programs, but this doesnt seem to be a permanent thing.

Anyone know of a way of changing the default setting, like in the registry or something, so that it ALWAYS prints duplex by default, no matter what app or profile?

Yeah, what I want though is to make that box ticked by default, as it seems somewhere along the lines its not applying for everything :(
