Javascript is something many companies will look for on a developer CV, often not hiring them if they do not have it. They need to know javascript, javascript frameworks, Ajax and especially JSON these days.
Lets be honest. If youre applying for a Java or .NET position, you will know JS or could learn it in 1hr.
Its like applying to be a mechanic and them saying you also need to be able to drive.
Based on conversations with you, Working with Coldfusion and java developers who have the same thinking and same lack of understanding for a lot about modern web I can defiantly say that is a load of tosh. You wont find any decent developer or front end guy or designer say that they can know it all in an hour. Considering all elements and new ideas and approaches and new plugins, new ways to do something, same way less code.... etc is being done almost on a daily bases and the web being such a a great ever evolving learning curve, it is even more Tosh, sorry but that really is.
Come on, Just deleted some bits, but Sam you really do just keep being silly, back track a bit, moan, get some stuff thrown at you, avoid, ignore on to the next dig or moan...
Respect every aspect of the web which you will need to do or at least work with to do well and stay up to date and meet with the modern thinking and at least respect the other people out there who are and doing a good job rather then moaning and disregarding just about everything like you do. I know non table mark up and CSS foxes you big time for example.
Chrome 3 - great!!! Good to use as a proper developer or designer? Not yet. Quick post on twitter gets that consensus.
You on twitter sam, do you follow many guys in the web world? Who you got on your list out of interest?
