Personally I quote like Brother, I will avoid HP all in one drivers like the plague.

It really comes down to work load imho.  If you just want a good Colour Laser, Brother HL-4040, DN unit will give you the Duplex and Ethernet if you want it. 

Sturdy, small reliable driver, easy to maintain, cheap ink to run.

Unfortunately, a client put 88000 pages through it in 5-6 months right on the duty cycle limit and was going through drums, after getting fed up of changing it so often, they now have HP CP3525 iirc, which is a much larger unit and has double the duty cycle.

some early brothers was rebadged HPs - anyway, its prob best to work out how much printing you do & price up the consumables & check the price against the page usage,
as one may be £20 but only print 1000 pages, compared to another being £50 & printing 4000 pages - also a page is based on 5% coverage, so if your printing CD covers
or photos, then divide that by 20!
If your printing thousands, then also price up the transfer belt & fuser. Also, some printers use seperate toners & drums - again its worth checking, oh & there's oil!!!!
what you save in initial outlay, can easily cost you a lot lot more.  Also, look at the Pages per minute. Some Colour Lasers can take an age to warm up.

I like HP as they usually workhorses & have long life in the maintainance parts, but Ive never really came across any problematic colour lasers. I hate working on lexmark ones though!
Xerox toners are expensive.

more than 8p a colour page - based on 5% coverage - £1.60 on if you done a full a4 page of colour!

That is of course on the basis of using official Ink.  There is no disadvantage to using refills.

Unfortunately the Drum and Toner units are the most expensive part of the consumables, which they are.

Then do it with a reputable company such as a local Smart Cartridge.

There really isn't an excuse.
