DLT Disaster..

Fitted a SCSI card and DLT drive to my shuttle

XP Pro SP2 can see the DLT and the SCSI card and the DLT is listed in the backup utility but i cant for love nor money get the thing to do anything with the tapes, the mediatools in the options is greyed out and i cant do a damn thing.

Anyone know the fix?

Cheers

strangly it works under a 2k3 standard server VM, altho it still seems short a few options.

removable storage manager springs to mind under win2k, probably the same in xp....

check in computer management
(compmgmt.msc)

should be towards the bottom,
got any other info on the drive? model etc?

might be some diagnostics on the manf. website to check it out.

its a Quantum DLT 4000 series, working perfectly through the 2003 VM.

XP talks to the drive and the tape is accessed but it refuses to mount it or whatever. Iv enabled the removable storage and its had no effect.

Cheers
