slightly disappointing that there only appears to be one main city - was hoping for San Fran and Vegas too as per GTA San Andreas....

then again it looks like the Los Santos is going to be huge...

I think this has monitor killing qualities, my IPS panel has absolutely gone wappy following playing GTA5 :-\

I left ALERT, PLEASE INSERT DISC 2 on the screen for 20 minutes, it retained that image for HOURS :o

Tried it on another none IPS monitor, fine, I think it's the way the engine is rendered, it looks very different, almost like interlaced.

is that a thinly veiled brag that your pre-order has shipped early? :D

I have it, my collectors edition pre-order however comes Tuesday.

I'm concerned if the ps3 version is going to send my monitor wappy (360 is what I've been mucking about on, not doing the missons really)

edit - just realised my 360 was set to 1080i, maybe it was that...

Set to 1080p, now looks normal again, bloody missus was using it in the other room to play lego and the tv there only supports 1080i.

I'll get my coat.

new apps launched today

iFriut:

Quote
Grand Theft Auto: iFruit – featuring Los Santos Customs and Chop the Dog

The free iFruit mobile app hooks directly into your Grand Theft Auto V experience featuring:

Los Santos Customs - The Los Santos Customs app offers players the freedom to create their ultimate vehicle in Grand Theft Auto V from anywhere. At the bar, on the beach, on the toilet. This is the future, we’re almost sure of it. You can even create and reserve custom license plates for both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online – order your personalized plates before they’re gone! Also choose from paint jobs, window tints, smoke colors, wheels, hoods and spoilers. Upgrade your engine, brakes, exhaust, suspension, and accessorize with new lights, horns, tires and body armor. Place your order on-the-go and find it waiting for you in the garage the next time you play Grand Theft Auto V, or send your order in while playing and get a call from your local mechanic to swing by. Everybody’s had some work done in Los Santos, so don’t let your ride be the exception to the rule.

Chop the Dog - Depth of content, high production values, defecation. It’s the app that has it all. Because who doesn’t love tending to a virtual pet? Chop is Franklin’s canine sidekick in Grand Theft Auto V. Look after him well in the Chop the Dog app and you will reap the benefits when playing as Franklin in Grand Theft Auto V. Pet him, feed and water him, play fetch and tug-of-war, teach him tricks. Too much or too little of an activity, however, will cause Chop to become unhappy, and nobody likes an unhappy Rottweiler. Take Chop on walks to give him a chance to work off last night’s steak and Piswasser and to mark his turf in the hood - defending his ladies, fending off gang members and even protecting the beach babes of Los Santos from unsightly tan lines by removing their bikinis.

also some GTA Manual

No Android version yet. All the best plates will already be gone. :-X

Still, can always have fun elbowing and punching Mimes in the face, then running them over with a bulldozer. ;D

These plates and things, are they bought with real money? It's an interesting evolution of gaming if so, where if the plates can be traded for money it opens up all sorts of new markets for commerce, land grabs for plates that might be worth something later...

Anyone else a little underwhelmed with the size of the map? It only takes about 10mins to drive the entire freeway loop, used to take a hell of a lot longer to drive around gta:san andreas.

Ive only played a few hours so far and am enjoying it but its not as 'epic' as I was expecting but maybe I'm expecting to much to soon.

Yeah, the only bigger (non-MMO) open-world games are Just Cause 1/2, FUEL, and maybe the little-known Boiling Point/White Gold AFAIK.

And there's all that area underwater to explore too, coves, tunnels, trenches, sunken ships, hidden entrances...

Just beware of the sharks, as you only have the knife usable whilst scuba-diving. I tried punching one on the nose... It didn't work out quite so well. :P

Grand Theft Auto V® Worldwide Sales Surpass $1 Billion In First Three Days

Fastest entertainment property in history to reach significant milestone*

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sep. 20, 2013-- Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: TTWO) today announced that Grand Theft Auto V, the critically acclaimed latest release from the iconic interactive entertainment series, has achieved worldwide retail sales of more than $1 billion during its first three days on sale, according to Company estimates. We believe this marks the fastest that any entertainment property, including video games* and feature films**, has reached this significant milestone.

“Grand Theft Auto is a cultural phenomenon and Rockstar Games continues to redefine what can be achieved in interactive entertainment," said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two. “We are incredibly proud of the extraordinary critical and commercial response to Grand Theft Auto V.”

I wonder how many copies will have sold by the 25th of December? :o
