Haha classic.

Yeah, the game suffers a bit from lack of documentation or information, but its an Alpha release, and tbh it kind of added to the initial fun where I was basically scooping mud up with my hands and tearing trees down and then realised I could combine certain things.

Thoroughly recommend finding a crafting recipe guide on the internet though so you know what you need to make what etc. You wont be able to get stone for instance until you make a pick axe, which you get by making a certain combo of wood. Metal needs smelting from the ore which means you need to make a furnace from stone etc.

Think its 10 euros during the alpha and then when it goes beta its going up to 20 euros. Once you buy it all updates are free.

Its good fun, but I cant see the longevity in it single player.

I dug my way down until I hit a huge underground cave and found some and iron, score. I went back up to my little workshop and smelted it down, made a few nice tools and a bit of armor (smelting is sloooooow so this took about 30 mins), then thought about venturing a bit further. Not far round the corner in the cavern I found an underground spring coming out of the rock which was cool, then just round the corner from that in the dark I was set upon by a load of arrow firing skel type people. I thought Id take them on with my iron sword and did dispatch a few healing up with some grilled pork chops, but then I went round a little further and three of them set on me, so I was deaded. It left me feeling a bit disappointed. I didnt want to respawn and lose all my things, so I quit and will have to go back to my save, which is a shame! It makes me realise that its a game to fill time with in single player but in multiplayer it would be so much better.

The trick underground is the fact the monsters spawn in the dark, so make craploads of torches and light those caves up. I just hit the bedrock now, shortly before mining into the side of an underground lavastream ><

The other trick with the smelters...Ive got 4 in a line to batch process stuff. And 6 double chests to store wood, stone, metal, resources, and tools/armour.

Ill slowly get there in terms of getting loads of iron, and then will go about making an uber rollercoaster to/from the spawn point.

I agree about the multiplayer, it would be cool to have a tek fort people can log in to every now and again, go off mining, and then dump the resources for later...come back the next day and find a whole new "knighty wing" attached etc...

Yeah mining to the bedrock then dying in a lava stream after an hour is no fun for one person, I dont have the patience to build my own rollercoaster and things

I find getting started is the hardest part, I either get killed in the first night or cant gather the raw materials to get my little cavewall workshop setup, coal especialy has been a real pain to find sometimes. Once you have a door though youre pretty much safe from everything until you go too far into the depths or do something stupid, e.g. lavadeath.

6 double chests is mental! I get nowhere near that much stuff together. I do think in future Im going to build camp right next to the spawn point though, I always get lost!

Its one of the features in the paid game, you can set your spawn location i think, it would make it so much easier, i keep abandoning my bases cus i cant find them again :P

Hmm, Ill need to look into the set spawn point feature.

The lava death isnt too bad actually...I didnt die. It adds an element to the game when you know you are near lava that you have to mine carefully so if you do hit some it doesnt pour on you. It moves so slowly that you can outrun it and dig a ditch to stop it going further. The main annoyance is when you open up an area with decent resources, hit "one more block" only to fill the area with lava.

The double chests are hardly full, but are there so that I dont end up having to move things around in the future like I ended up doing with the wooden walls.

Does anyone actually have a server they could run this on 24/7 so paid up members could go online? I know there are loads of servers available as is, and I dont know if you can make a private server, but if you could...

Only issue is I think you might need a paid account to run the server? Ive not looked into it myself as I could never host it.

Grr @ you Zpyder! this game is too good!

bang goes my free time for a while!

Anyone done anything cool with redstone dust yet? Ive mined a load of it but havent decided what to do with it yet.

edit: except make a compass, thats a good use of redstone. Redstone in the middle + 4x iron around it to make a + shape makes a compass which always points towards your spawn point.

Ive built a huge fort on top of a big hill, stone steps all the way up, then followed this up with a torchlit path down to a small mine camp and a mine leading to the bedrock. Ive found lots of redstone but no diamonds or gold this time (gold is actually pretty useless though, its as durable as wood!). I think now would be an ideal time to make a compass and a secure torchlit fenced area and pathway leading from spawn point to my camp. If I die somewhere now Ill be pretty gutted, its the first time Ive managed to get enough thread to make a bow and arrow too! Its also the first world thats been built with snow. I didnt like it at first but Im used to it now. Iced over lakes are much easier to cross and kill animals on.

Im really tempted to buy it for multiplayer shenanigans.
