This is reminding me so much of a lego game that I played back at college where people could build stuff in lego in 1st person in multiplayer. I cant remember if I played it with some of you guys or just college or uni friends.

Anyway, basica graphics and bugs aside, I cant believe how addictive it is. I started out by exploring and not really knowing WTF to do. Its taken a while to discover things like how to make timber from wood, Ive found a knife which seems to help mine/cut resources, and after exploring came across a massive cliff/hill on the coast of the randomly generated world I am in. After a load of mining I built a narrow ramp up to the top, and have so far managed to harvest enough timber to build primitive wooden fortifications around the outside of it. It took a couple of "nights" to make it monster proof, now Im going on missions basically mining in a straight line back to the respawn point so that if/when I die I have an easier time getting back to camp, as the game world really is huge.

Just press login, will take you to single player. If it costs 10 euros at alpha its a bargain, compared to other indie games that cost more.

But if you do start to play, have a decent guide to hand, as though the crafting section is fairly clever/intuitive once you know the combinations youve got not much chance at all at figuring them out on your own.

And I didnt realise I needed tools to harvest half the stuff, so Ive been scraping rock out, with my hands, and a snails pace, only to be left wondering why I wasnt obtaining any!

Are you talking about Blockland? If so Im pretty sure I played that game with you and few others from here back then. One construction I still remember helping to create with other Tek members was a large underwater tunnel with widows, and I think you were one of the ones that helped.

Excellent, so it was Tek. All I remember about blockland is someone building an epic pyramid, and building a massive tower into the clouds so high that you couldnt see the ground, with a tube running down the middle you could jump down and land in the water.

Minecraft is like that.

But with more stuff.

And monsters.

And Dungeons.

Im currently in the process of replacing my wooden fortress walls with stone walls. The stone is coming from the mine I have started in the middle of the mountain my "fortress of uber" is situated on. Hopefully in the next couple of days Ill get a roof on it, and then the fun begins. Im planning on totally hollowing out the mountain, which might be tricky as at the base there are a few caves which seem to have zombies in them, so I forsee opening up too much of the cave.

At some point I plan on making a rollercoaster from the top that will go straight down and as far across the map as fast as possible, as a quick escape root. Maybe build another fort at the end so I can go back and forth ><

When registrations are back up Im so buying this. I regret preordering Civ V, as I doubt thatll get a look-in any time soon. Theres soooooo much potential, if we could get some Tek people and a private server going it would kick ass to have a tek fort etc.

Cancel the multiplayer bit, just do single player. If it asks for user/pass just hit login and it loads up, or it did for me.

It really is a sandbox. Look it up on youtube for examples of stuff people do.

On the basic level you can play it like lego, go out, collect materials, and then build something with it.

But then you have things like the monsters, you can make weapons and armour, traps as well. The water I think is dynamic so you could dig a mote around your castle and redirect a stream.

Or like in the vid I saw yesterday, you could make a rollercoaster etc.

Its up to you really. What was the point in Blockland? I thought you played that.

I was right...I decided to extend my shaft as far as I can and opt for length rather than girth...Going straight down Ive hit coal and iron, as well as zombies, and underground stream, and lava, which is worrying. I ran out of torches to explore the chasms, but Im basically trying to light up as much as I can. Its getting tougher though, I think before the next trip into the underworld Ill need to go beat up some cows to make some leather armour.
