Oh yes, most definitely. Everytime I power the PC up it goes full pelt for a sec or two and then slows down! Its the first time its ever happened tbh so Im not too concerned. The air coming out the back is pretty warm but I got the impression these cards do tend to generate a fair bit of heat anyway.

what about when youre in windows ?

overheating is more likely than the wrong driver tbh.

Still warm when coming out the back but not worryingly warm.

What would be an optimal temperature for the GPU, Ill install a widget to see what its running at later.

anything sup 50C will be fine when youre just on the desktop etc...

anything more than that and youve got a problem

90C is the max you ever want it to reach, in games / benchmarks etc...

tho tbh I wouldnt be happy if it hit 70C

Well its idling at 60 degrees but theres nothing I can do about it tbh. Its more than likely a result of the location of the tower (end of the bed pretty much up near a wall) so what little air circulation there is is likely to be warm. Ive found most cards tend to idle around that in this comp :| Will give dragon age a go and see what it gets to after that.

In Dragonage with everything on max settings its only getting to 66 degrees.

Im not too sure about it being an overheating issue as the card has been fine for the last few months playing things like Dawn of War II and Fallout 3 on the highest settings possible without fault, so I wouldnt have thought doing stuff in windows would cause an overheating problem if the games didnt?

It didnt no.

As I said though, its hardly a problem, 2-3 months and its happened once.
