What do we think of this? http://www.pcbuyit.co.uk/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=1154

It gets an excellent review and sounds like its an excellent alternative to the 2x price of the UW2410, I'd have that.

Looking at it I think the only real downside to that panel is no HDMI, but it has DisplayPort and DVI.

3d, that'll cost about 10x more and totally pointless for what I use my pc for.

100% 3D is a gimmick.

100% 3D is a gimmick.

I'd go as far as it wont be mainstream & everything will be done in 3D, but I think it will be like early HD.
Nature Programs, Sport & Porn. Even some live events & shows will look better in 3d. I also think 3d Gaming could be a massive step.

Samsung have a 23" due out anytime now for about £400

LG are due some soon as well

Also, the TV's not requiring glasses are out now.. so 3D may now take off.

I think it'll only take off when it becomes like THX 1138

isnt there a consumer rights/sale of goods act that covers you upto 5 years?
http://www.whitegoodshelp.co.uk/wordpress/eu-2-year-guarantee-sales-of-goods-act-gives-us-6-years-to-claim-for-faulty-appliances/

Thats all well and good, but its upto you to argue the case, its a long process/argument when your talking about a single defective pixel, whats the point when you can buy an LCD monitor with zero defect warranty, you make a single no hassle phone call and get it swapped out.

I always think about after sales when deciding on a purchase. Have you tried taking something back to Comet even if it is genuinely faulty?

it depends on price & what you term as reasonable use. Not sure how much the monitor was new, but I would expect something with an RRP of £500
to last a lot longer than 6 years considering it has no moveable parts that can be affected by wear & tear.
We not talking about a pixel, we are talking about something inside going pop .
As for the comet statement - I dont shop in the high street. Havent done for years.

We are talking about a £200 monitor with a single defective pixel as per the Zero Defect warranty, on topic with this thread. It can be discussed all day long but the fact is the warranty is unmatched and can minimise after sales hassle. I can tell you the last time i purchased from Comet (7+ years ago) was a camera that developed a genuine fault, i had to walk out of the shop and it takes me a lot to get wound up, just ask Knighty he tried it the whole time i was in Sunderland!
