Seems pointless to mess around trying to get the old one replaced, its old, id struggle to find any proof of purchase and dont have time to try and beat dell into replacing it, it was a fair wedge to buy but then IMO its lasted long enough.

isnt there a consumer rights/sale of goods act that covers you upto 5 years?
http://www.whitegoodshelp.co.uk/wordpress/eu-2-year-guarantee-sales-of-goods-act-gives-us-6-years-to-claim-for-faulty-appliances/

Thats all well and good, but its upto you to argue the case, its a long process/argument when your talking about a single defective pixel, whats the point when you can buy an LCD monitor with zero defect warranty, you make a single no hassle phone call and get it swapped out.

I always think about after sales when deciding on a purchase. Have you tried taking something back to Comet even if it is genuinely faulty?

it depends on price & what you term as reasonable use. Not sure how much the monitor was new, but I would expect something with an RRP of £500
to last a lot longer than 6 years considering it has no moveable parts that can be affected by wear & tear.
We not talking about a pixel, we are talking about something inside going pop .
As for the comet statement - I dont shop in the high street. Havent done for years.

We are talking about a £200 monitor with a single defective pixel as per the Zero Defect warranty, on topic with this thread.
i pressed the button to switch to DVI and *POP* no power LED

does that really sound like a dead pixel?

thats where its down to the individual & what they believe is reasonable time. :)

Oh well the direction of the conversation had gone way past talking about the original monitor.

Huge? Isn't it actually smaller than the old Dell UltraSharp or did you not go for the U2311H?

Remember spending £600ish on it back then, its surprising as I wouldn't spend that these days and I'm earning more now.

When your in front of one of those apple screens (not imac, the screen) they are something else, Really are. The price though for them is absolutely nuts! and would not buy one unless I won the lotto and you can get nearly as nice for 1/4 of price, but yeah the build and how good they look...
