Which phone is better? the Samsung D800 or D600?

Is the Samsung D800 the latest model?

I went with a K750i myself about 6 months ago, the W800i was released about 2 weeks later.  Then I realised I could flash the W800i firmware on my K750i, so I did and now it works exactly like a W800i.  Put a 2GB memory card in it too and it all works a treat :D

Im thinking of eBay now Walrusbonzo - curse ya.

I went for the D800 in the end. £15 a month on O2 200 contract seemed ok.

;) Im currently loving streaming music from my wireless network onto my phone :D

Is it the 600 you can connect to the idiot lantern??

Yes you can, it is purported to have excellent video quality.

ERU, I looked at the D800 spec and it seemed worse on paper than the D600, things like a 1.3mpixel camera compared to the D600s 2mpixel. Was I wrong? :?

They made the camera smaller to make the phone thinner. Im getting mixed comments about it, with owners saying its great with all the problems of the D500/D600 fixed and some online reviews saying its the same as a D600. Im not really all that bothered about cameras, so it should be great for me.

Should be coming in the post sometime in the comming week.

Soopahfly, Ive no complaints with my W800i.  Although I very rarely use it for media playback.

Too big, prefer Samsung i300x (4gb Smartphone)

Uses a decent media player as well, and more likely to be reliable as its not made by Sony Ericsson.

the camera talk is utter sh*te its the same manufacturer, same as the screen. sorry to sound negative but its the same camera just a different programming sequence,

with the sony erricsson you can do panoramic shots whereas the samsung camera you can do burst.

the talk of the memory card woes, im a clumsy oaf and i havent lost my 512 stick yet - plus its cheap i bought mine from amazon for under £20 inc postage.

the only niggle for me is the mp3 player. there are 4 albums and you are restricted to how many tracks you can put on an album.

however its a good phone if you want to do simple things with it. hasnt failed me yet but the vibrating battery is starting to annoy me lol. however when you find "quiet" mode you will love and adore this feature.

biased me.

hell no :)

but get the d800 as its the sequel to the d600.

also go with orange as they put in a better firmware as scratch.

little tip :)

Ive got a D600 and its a wonderful phone.  The only thing that gets to me is that you cant set it to ring/vibrate at the same time, it vibrates twice then rings.

Which means if the phone isnt in my pocket it rings once then the person hangs up :\ .  Ive changed it now so it just rings, which is alright but not great.

Also the way I slide the phone open means I hang up on everyone who rings me :P

It is very reliable though, Ive had no problems at all and I havent exactly been gentle with it.  The battery life didnt seem fantastic, but my last phone was rom the ark and could go weeks without a charge.  The D600 will easily last a week if you dont use it much.  It doesnt come with a huge amount of features, but then again theyre the sort of gimicky crap I never use.

I wonder how many people having battery problems actually conditioned the battery? Mine lasts almost a week from full charge. Phenomenal IMO.

Yes, i always run the battery right down before i use the phone for the first time/charge it...

I then make sure the battery is flat before re-charging.

Ive never had a problem with battery life, mine will last about a week (D600) even after fairly substantial use - left on 24/7.

My old C500 used to last a week with me constantly fiddling with it,
My XDA Mini S lasts around 4 days so far.
