Scanners
on: June 23, 2009, 20:59:53 PM
Anyone recommend one?

My one is a bit of a relic from college, or even school. Its so old it rattles whilst scanning and takes maybe 45-60 secs to scan a single page...in black and white.

Mind you I remember buying it for about £30-40 back then, which is nothing compared to the prices of scanners nowadays it seems!

I thought scanners were of the technological level now where cheap really is cheerful?

Im pretty sure even the last cheapie all-in-one printer I had had a half decent scanner.

the best scanner Ive ever used was my canoscan-300... which I bought when my P133 was top of the range !

ran on 240v direct, and conected up to a scsi port.... was fast as hell !

Id still go with a all in one device, it can be a backup printer and you can use it as a copier too.

Yeah will probably do that when I finally move out, would make sense as I likely wont have that much space.

The all-in-one my dad has is interesting. Scanning an A4 page at full res, then opening it in PaintShop causes his comp to fall over (3700@2.4ghz + 2gb RAM).

Just a cheap £40 jobbie from Staples I think.

Modern scanners all have very high resolution and usually at least reasonable output. Only real place you are going to find differences is by reading reviews.
