Incidentally did anyone else have an audience that laughed at rather bizarre moments? When Ledger was at his finest and the Joker was at his most psychopathic people seemed to think it was comic relief. I had assumed I was just in with a bad audience but my brother has just seen it elsewhere in the country and he noted the same thing.

I laughed at his psychotic bits because I find psychosis funny. Makes me feel more normal.
It's all fun and games until a 200' robot dinosaur shows up and trashes Neo-Tokyo… Again.

I still find it interesting...

Batman Begins, did quit well in the cinema but has done better on dvd and hd. But sooo many people did not go to see it because of the previous film which made a total joke of the whole thing and it was sad to see the first with Keaton, followed by a good squeal and then ripped apart as mentioned. But a lot of people like yourself would and do like it when they see it.

I think why people laugh is because they think the Joker is supposed to be funny and while he is doing sadistic stuff it is in a dark funny way but I think the girls etc overly laughing do not understand the dark undertones and just actually how smart the Joker is.

I think for me Heath did a good job being dark and evil and a good Joker but more over he did a better job showing how madness and smartness are both closer then you think and a fine line. It was only his perception of how bad Gothum had become and the same mistake Raaz made in the first movie and again that hidden extra level to the movie again showing Gothum could and can be saved.
As Alfred said, things will always get worse before they get better.

Didnt think the movie was funny at all, brilliant, but in no way a comedy. Best film Ive seen for a while.

They are going to re-release the movie in Cinemas at the Oscar consideration time in full.

While it sounds silly I think it is the right thing to do here, This is one of the rare times an action movie / summer blockbuster has cause for Oscar nominations..

For me not considering actually winning any in terms of nominations it should at least get in for...

- The score
- Heath Ledger as best supporting actor and in terms of being best supporting actor he should win it.
- Bale for best actor because to not be totally swamped as a character and lost as a character agaisnt a perfomance like that he did a very good job to be any close to par in performance, do not think he will win but should be nominated
- Filming and director should be nominated

Im not entirely sure Joker has any kind of higher thinking to his actions. He doesnt care about Gotham at all, his main concern is to cause chaos wherever he is. He has also flourished with the strange relationship he has with Batman. Its what drives him on to do the things he does. He has no care if Gotham exists or not. As long as he can do what he does he will do it. For no reason apart from because he can.

Thats how I see the Joker. He is just a psychopath with no end goal.

At the very start to even where the last but one guy stands to be hit by the school bus that is very clever. All they way through the movie if you pay proper attention he is very very clever but completely mad, the balance was brilliant.

Even the way they did him, full make up at the start and never changed it so as it got more worn during the movie they made sure that is what happens.
