TV problem

Got our 28" Bush widescreen TV (model WS6680SIL) from Tesco 2 years ago and recently its developed an odd problem.

When you turn it on the sound id fine but the brightness on the image goes from normal throught a slow fade to black where it stays for a random ammount of time then back to normal.

A sharp smack to the side reverses the direction of the fade. (eg if its getting darker it starts getting lighter .. back towards normal).

Anyone heard of this? Im stuck without a TV at the moment.

EDIT: I should add that the bridghtness/contract levels in the menu are not actually changing, just the screen goes dark regardless of the brightness setting.

Its one of the components going or one of the plugs might be just loose. Similar thing happened to one of my old tellys except that rather than fade to black it became unstable.

take the back off and check all the cables are properly seated, remember its HT inside with lots of nasty volts so make sure you give it time to cool off after you pull the plug.

If you cant see anything obvious then its time to find a repairer who does free estimates or ditch and get a new one.
