54 hours and counting. Id reccomend anyone who was thinking about getting this game to just go play something else. This game is 9 days from release and it has no registration system online, no working accounts system, and GOA keep posting lies as news on their website.

This is easily the worst open beta I have ever seen for an MMORPG, and Ive played a lot.

yup, same here.
They flog the the CE with open beta access & then give thousands of keys away to the general public.
knew GOA would f**k up.

Egg, if you have input your code on the activation screen and are waiting for the confirmation email, try this. Run the game and untick Save Login Name then try to log onto the game, it just worked for me, however it didnt work for my brother.

Also, on all the English servers the Destruction side is full, so youll probably end up having to play Order for now, unless you like to wait in line to get on. Its very annoying as I want to play as a Black Orc, but Ill have to wait for new servers to go up.

OK, so played a few hours of the game now as both a witch hunter (Order) and a black orc (Destruction) and it is really good, once you can actually get on that is. The Tome of Knowledge is great as it fills up with info on the areas, creatures and other characters as you find them and there is a lot to read and the game does feel very Warhammery.

I would still say to wait to see if GOA can straighten their act out before thinking about buying the game though. Im still unsure of whether Ill be subscribing to the game come release. Im predicting another balls-up this Sunday as its supposed to be head-start for the CE players, however, GOA have it in their FAQ that the account centre for the head-start codes will go live on the Sunday, so they havent learnt from this first cock-up. Add to it also that a load of GOAs team will be at Games Day in Birmingham showing off the game rather than over in Dublin, so if something goes wrong again theyll have less staff there to sort it all out.

I just watched another trailer for this, its probably one of the best trailers/intros for a game Ive seen yet. When will these guys end up producing a feature length movie but for adults, as opposed to the shrek/ice age generation :D

And as much as I wanted to play the game after watching the trailer, Im pretty sure itd end up like AoC. 2 weeks in sat there asking why Im doing the same old stuff over and over again...

warcraft is in the making, still in script stages and casting but has the team from 300 doing the movie etc (google it) Big budget to the movie as well and will be a live action with cgi based affair.

Bah, I have a bad feeling a live action movie would end up just being cheesey like most game->movie films. Id be more impressed if they did a full length CG movie of the same quality of their intro cinematics. Sure itd likely end up being straight to dvd, but Id watch it.

I am however excited about the prospect of a gears of war film. Though thats bound to be of the standards of AvP, so long as you go expecting a creature action/horror flick, and not something extraordinary, it might be ok...

Dear all,
More than 100,000 European players have now created characters and launched enthusiastically into the violent and bloody battlefields of the Old World every evening. Despite this, for many of you and for us as well, the launch of the open beta has left a bitter taste. While it is true that the purpose of Beta Testing a game is to indeed expose problems before a game launches, the launch did not happen anywhere near as smoothly as we had planned.

Because of this I have decided to offer seven free days to all of the beta testers. If you decide to continue your adventures in WAR, and we certainly hope you do, you will be credited on your account from the 18th of September and will be able to take part in the adventure without any regret. By the beginning of next week, we expect many more to join us as we open the gates for our Head Start, and we look forward to welcoming all of you in the Warhammer world.

Best regards,

Ghislaine Le Rhun
GOA CEO

Bonus lol :D That is damn good of them giving a whole week free, i wish other companies adopted this idea :P

Ill be honest after lots of mates getting me on msn, i am now going to buy this game this week xD will start another thread with questions, hope some of you are higher lvl :)

Seems GOA are learning. The code input system for CE pre-orders was only 1 hour late going up, but they did actually inform us this time about the delay and, once the code was input, I got an email about 5-10mins later saying that my head-start was activated.

It is a game the knew would be popular but I think because these guys fully know WOW and what it means and have big respect for Blizzard they knew it would not be big or take over WOW but I think they have been surprised by the beta numbers and more over the open beta numbers.
I think EA as well is still only really developing its MMO network infrastructure from what I read, they have had their online servers for some time but with steam showing them up they have things in the works to address their issues as well as combine and manage all their online offerings.

I mean besides all the pc games you can play online, things like spore etc you have the MMOs coming from EA that should be some level of decent. KOTOR MMO has the potential to be one of the biggest as an example. WAR will suffer a bit being the first biggy of the new era of EA MMOs

In europe there is very little to do with EA.

Tis a Mythic/GOA job this side of the pond, all EA has done is package the product.

Which, tbh, is a worse thing as the US launch has gone incredibly smoothly compared to the farce of the EU launch with GOA

Indeed. Nexus, in Europe EA havent really touched the game other than putting out the boxes for it. All the servers and stuff are run by GOA who are nothing to do with EA. EA are running the servers in the US and Oceania and from the reports Ive heard they are really good, very stable servers. EA knows how to run an MMO, they ran Earth and Beyond, and for the time I played that there were no problems with servers at all.

Got my Collectors Edition delivered today and have to say I was very surprised, in a good way. The first thing I noticed was the weight, this package weighs in at about 3.3kgs and the box itself is huge and made of very thick, very sturdy, and very shiny cardboard.

Inside is a hardback art book that is much bigger and has a lot more content than I expected. Under that is a smaller hardbacked Prelude To War graphic novel, and below that is a very thin mouse mat which has a peel off back so you can stick the mat to your desk. Then finally on the bottom of the the box is the Grumlock & Gazbag miniature in blister pack and the double-wide game box.

Well worth the £60 payed, in fact Id say its probably worth more than that.
