worth bothering with an upgrade?

Ive got an athlon xp 3200 and an agp radeon 9700 pro...
seeing as this is the fastest i can go CPU wise in the motherboard,
would it be worth bothering upgrading to a current gen agp card?
if theres not much to gain in BF2 or HL2 frames or eye candy wise with it then ill wait till next year and get a new system then with all the spangly new stuff.
anyone got any sites showing the 9700 or 9800 compared against a newer agp card on an athlon xp system?

I just got the xfx 6600gt agp and its a great card, upgrading from a 9600, but if I werent so impatient I woulda waited for the 7600 agp to come out (next month iirc).
Going from a 97pro I guess youd wanna go a couple steps over the 6600gt.

if you are even remotely considering Vista anytiome soon then wait until next year when you can get more bang-per-buck. having read a couple of articles from independant sources itll be worth waiting for the extra power.

only way id consider vista is if it came drm free and less bloaty than the hindenburg airship when she was about.....
dont think even a killer game that was vista only would sway me atm, halo 2 certainly aint worth bothering about, itd work better on the 360 anyhow
right ok ill stick to the 9700 till something funky comes out then,
think i can struggle on for a while.
might have even made the jump already if the athlon 64s wernt so expensive.

Ive got a similar setup to brummie and dispite going through Tomb Raider Legend I dont have any plans to upgrade this year.
You will also be able to save up some more dosh and be able to afford more as the prices drop

if your only thinking about the gfx card right now Id hang on and do the hole system at once like you said...
i really noticed the jump from a 64bit 3200 to a 4400x2
..... nothing else seams to make much difference tbh.
