360 to Dell Monitor I would recommend the VGA cable (Ive used both the component & VGA... VGA is much better picture).

If its original xbox Im not sure the best way.

I bought a 3rd part vga when 360 first came out and it ghosts slightly due to bad shielding, so dont be tempted to scrip go for the MS one

For 360 - then as above VGA cable.

If original get on ebay and find an x2vga - hard to find but awesome at what they do. The 1st generation needed no PSU the newer ones do though so I preferred the originals.

Its up to you. Ive tried them all but VGA has come out top in quality (a huge difference between VGA & HD Component, not so much between VGA & HDMI) - The main advantage of using HDMI is that audio is also carried in the same connection but if you are using a monitor thats pointless anyway ;)

Personally I would go for VGA if that screen is all your going to use it on, HDMI if you might move to another TV as it might not have VGA (or like the TV downstairs at my house... it has VGA but no audio connectors!!!)

I got the HDMI cable on the 42" downstairs and the VGA on this Dell 24 Ultrasharp. Means I dont have to faff around with cables when I want to move my 360 ;)

If your 360 is modern enough it should have a HDMI port on it, if it isnt VGA is your only option

With the HDMI port you will need a HDMI to DVI convertor or dedicated cable and then some method of getting the audio out of the HDMI either through the converter or another device.

The VGA cable comes with phono audio connectors built into the cable so it makes it easy (I used to use one with my dell monitor before I got myself a TV).

TBH the best bet is the VGA cable as MS themselves support it and it automatically adjusts to PC Monitor resolutions compared to the HDMI which works off TV resolutions.
