xbox360 and pc - the difference
on: November 17, 2007, 21:08:42 PM
Well, I just got a copy of my current game of choice - Bioshock - for the PC

To say the graphics look better on the PC version is a massive understatement

It looks like PS1 vs PS2. The PC being the PS2

The difference is staggering!

The biggest difference is that its much easier to control a game on a PC than any console, the one exception may be the Wii.

The biggest difference is a 360 is now £200 for a pro... and they are guaranteed to make great games for it for the next few years.

For RTS and FPS - Pc is king but for every other Game I have to say a controller is king

The problem with FPS on a pc is that you have to constantly update your hardware so you get a decent framerate, and if youve got a crap framerate, it makes gaming harder.

Id say that each has advantages and disadvantages

the only games I really play regularly are the GTA series and although the PC has the edge when the character is on foot & controlled via a mouse/keypad fps style the planes are far easier to control with a PS2 controller - Im fairly indifferent to the vehicles but the PS2 controller probably has a slight edge there too.

Im playing it on the PC to the end - its so much better to play FPS with the keyboard and mouse

Is there one available for the 360 ?

The main problem with a console release is that the Hardware is going to be dated from day 1 so its hardly a shocker that Bioshock looks a lot shinier.

I cant say I really care to much If Im using a keyboard/mouse or controller these days.

Havent played that but usually you can switch to a joystick on the PC for flying sims and such like.

I totally agree. I was a pretty hardcore PC gamer, always upgrading hardware to ensure I had the best possible (money willing) setup.
Then the day came where I couldnt afford that new £300+ gfx card and so instead I opted to buy a 360 and play the game that way.
It has taken a while to get used to controller FPS but I can honestly say that it makes little/no difference to my gaming experience now.

Although I did try to play C&C on the 360 and found the controller layout to be a complete PITA.

That and PC Gamers have to wait years to get the good games.
Bioshock is meh, no multiplayer, feels a bit like HL.  Not really innovative.

Youve only just got Gears of War and how long do you have to wait for Halo 3?

didnt like GoW, didnt like Halo 3 - both distinctly average imo. I dont play online.

Bioshock has more to offer than the standard couple of weapons, just prefer it myself.

Its swings and roundabouts though really, can you build a £200 PC that can play games that look as good as on the 360?  No?  You need a graphics card of 3/4 that to do it really.
