XP - another five months reprieve...

http://www.infoworld.com/article/07/09/28/Microsoft-gives-OEMs-five-months-to-install-XP_1.html

So will it still be available in 2010?

Ive also heard that M$ sent an invisible update earlier this year. Except there is an issue. Under normal use there is no problem but if you use the recovery facility on the CD it will not update properly afterwards and about 80 patches will not be installed.

Chances are that if you are running XP connected to the web you will have this waiting for you...

It was 9 stealth patches, and they update windows update to make sure you can update in the future.

Microsoft has already released a press release regarding it, ages ago.

im still using XP64, I have Vista Business set as a secondary boot option.  Ill go to Vista when XP drops out of the support loop and goes into extended support.  until then ill just play it by ear, Vista really doesnt do anything I want that XP cant do.

only problem i had was the HD Audio, and a visit to the realtek site sorted that out quick enough.  Its stable and quick enough, though when i tried to benchmark it in comparison to my old XP Home install I discovered 3d mark doesnt support 64Bit OSen :(

lol just tried booting vista on my new pc.. (Via Nemehiah 1Ghz M10000G, onboard graphics, 512mb ram :D) it got as far as the pretty boot logo, and died :D lol.

XP.... surprisingly nippy :) That I guess is the decider, providing you have the hardware for it, vista = xp :) Shame, as I loved vistas look, and also loved the UI features, they were nice, like the windows key feature Winkey + IPCONFIG = ipconfig would run :)

but now I have all that using a batch file and launchy.
