(Recommend me) an Alarm Clock !?
on: October 01, 2010, 10:11:47 AM
For the past too many years of my life Ive relied, without issue, on my mobile phone as my alarm clock. Unfortunately over the past 2 months its failed in this simple task on several occasions and Im starting to be embarrassed by my  repetitious use of the "my alarm didnt go off" excuse :/

Basic requirements are that its an alarm clock and that itll work !

Ideally itll have:
An auto dimming display.
Multiple alarms
DAB/FM Radio

Perfect world:
Multiple alarms with day of week settings.
Internet Radio
DNLA support

What alarm clocks do you guys use ? Anything youd recommend ?
Ive been looking around and the prices/features vary massively. I cannot believe theres so much choice !

For years I used an old brick of a hifi as my alarm clock, but when I got introduced to Adam and Joe on saturday on 6 Music, i bit the bullet and got one of these:

http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk/shop/DAB_Radios.29/Pure_Digital.94/SIESTA/Pure_Siesta_DAB_FM_Bedside_Clock_Radio.2730.html

Shortly after Adam and joe stopped ><

But it has auto dimming light that dims in the dark (excellent, as my hifi used to be so bright I had to position a desk light to stop the light keeping me awake at night)
3 programmable alarms that can be set for duration, radio station, individual days, weekdays, weekends etc
Also has a headphone jack as well.

No internet radio though, but it was relatively cheap and does the job.

Sounds good too.

Mine cost me under a fiver at Argos, i read the user reviews and found what they thought was possibly the loudest one and then bought it, its not let me down and i have trouble getting up usually.

I cannot stand those kind of beep only alarms. They just make me wake up with jump and then spend the whole day feeling pap.

Its not that I have trouble getting up once my alarm has gone off, its just that sometimes the alarm doesnt go off !
