I do not know if you can watch the movie but if you throw a cup of hot water into the air at that temperature it turns to snow.

Yeah I am sure they had been throwing water literally just off the boil.

It's pretty crazy at those temps, I think I remember you saying something a while back about having to have special heaters for car engines to warm them up before you could start them?

i saw that happen on a BBC documentary before. Think they was in Siberia.

Yeah I use a motorheater but where I live it starts without but it saves the engine and you get heat in the car faster, one can use those up to 10+ C and it also lowers emissions and gas use.

Doesn't the cost of using the motorheater in the first place kind of offset the emissions/gas economy?

No, 400-600 watt for 1-2 hours does not cost much, about 1 kWh, how much is that in GB ? One uses a timer to start it about 2 hours before use.

It was if I remember correctly, the air has to be extremely cold and you throw the water up while standing upwind of where the water will go. That way the water droplets blow away from you and not onto yourself.

The result is the water disperses into tiny droplets and loses heat to the air very quickly
