Beard trimmers
on: November 16, 2011, 12:00:27 PM
So my cheap ceramic trimmer has a crap battery life, pretty much needing to be used plugged in with a really short cable.

I'm looking for a new trimmer that is for beards, not stubble...my beards probably an inch long and needs a bit of looking after. Any recommendations?

I just use the 6 piece Phillips kit from Argos, cost about £14.99 and does everything! (Including beard, if you like the stubble look). :muttley:

Once the battery dies you just buy another, this one has lasted me nearly 2 years.

Ideally I want to keep the beard longer than stubble, say 1cm

The remington I have is, but for some reason it just seems to really thin the beard out no matter how you use it and no matter what setting you use :( Guess it might have to be a scissor jobby at this length!

I ended up getting a Philips Vacuum jobby:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-QT4090-32-Pro-Stubble-Turbo-Vacuum/dp/B005CMHY8W/ref=pd_sim_sbs_d_2

Picks up most of the hairs, it was obsviously going to struggle with the first trimmings.

Did an excellent job though, better than my two previous Remingtons.

Argos had them listed as in stock and at £39.99. Went to my local one and ended up getting given the 4075 rather than the 4090. Found it a bit dodgy as I'd paid for a more expensive model which they said was in stock. Got a refund and tried another argos, exact same thing. Tempted to write to trading standards as they shouldn't charge you more for a cheaper model, and shouldn't list it as in stock if it blatently isn't.
