Been done over on ebay
on: February 04, 2007, 16:38:22 PM
I won a set of Global kitchen knives on Ebay for £300.

They arrived a couple of days ago and they are not genuine Global knives, they are fake. I left feedback before I realised they were fake.

The seller wont reply.

What can I do?

The seller is alsstagdo , I have his name and bank detail (the payment was dont by bank Xfer  :( )

Im not a happy man, really cant afford to waste £300 on crappy replicas.

if he has send fakes and advertised them as origionals then he is guilty of fraud.  if he is refusing to respond then report him to ebay, if they do nothing then as he is guilty of a crime, report him to the police.

make sure you tell e-gay that youre going to get onto police & trading standards as youve been the victim of a fraud

also did you buy using a credit card? - tis always best to when shopping on line for expensive stuff as you should be able to claim back the money from the credit card provider.

Yeah, deffo report him!

Still 300 clams is way way way too much to spend on a set of knives. Global kit is way over hyped, btw. Any decent steel knife can take a good edge if you know how to sharpen properly. If you shop around, you should be able to assemble a set of good working kives for much less. Chef, paring, boning, carving, and of course, a Chinese cleaver. Ya dont need more than that, a stone, and a decent stee.

I worked with a chef that insisted on Globals. I borrowed her kit on occasion. Its awful in hand. Spanish made traditional Henckels (or similar)  is much more comfy.

However, if youre looking to dress up the countertop, skip the knives and go for polished concrete or granite.

the other thing that occurs to me is that he is selling counterfiet goods.  Threaten to contact Global directly, in fact i would be inclined to do that anyway.

Mine is a mix of knives from £1 shops and more expensive items. Quite often the cheap ones are just as good. The cleaver I have cost me a quid but rarely needs sharpening. My most used knife is a 12" cheapo that I occasionally sharpen myself, it gets used for most things from paring and chopping veg to preparing fish. TBH its big for doing spuds but it still does the job better than an expensive peeler my brother bought.

As has been suggested contact ebay, the police, etc. and never use bank transfer for more than £100. The second you go over that use a credit card because it adds another layer of protection for you.

Cheers guys.

I will contact ebay if I can find the correct section, I reported all the guys listings as being counterfeit but I dont think thats the same thing.

I dont have a credit card unforchunatly so it was my only option, regret it now.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but the police wont do sh*t.

Write this one down to experience and dont ever use ebay again.

All you can do is report him to as many different places as possible.
Maybe its worth contacting Global knives as they will have the money to actually do somthing about it.. they may even reward you :-D
