Company i work for gone bust :(
on: July 04, 2008, 21:34:16 PM
Yep the place i work for at the moment will have the administrators in on Monday morning but i have not been told officially that this is happening, im going in my own car so i can get home again.

What i want to know is does anybody know what kind of values cars are sold for which are owned by companies who go bust?

I am thinking of buying my company car from them and im not sure what to offer for it.

Seat Leon Stylance
1.9 TD 105PS
55 plate
54k on clock

It books at £8k

Cheers.

theyll just stick it in an auction... so if you can pay cash for it they should be pretty keen....

dont really know auction prices that well, but Id say tell them you asked around etc.. and theyre abut 6k... then they can work you up to 7k ;)

If its going to auction theres no saying it will make the money on the day, depends whos out to buy. And in those cases of bankruptcy i would guess its viable that it will be sold on the day for whatever they can get for it.

Taking this into consideration i would personally start lower, like £5k after all its £5k of easy money without running to the auction, you can always go higher, but never lower, so start as loss as possible, it doesnt matter that your taking the piss, you dont have a job to go back to anyway   -)

Id save the money and ask myself, do I really need 2 cars?

If youre going to get a new job without a company car then it could be good.

If you can get it for say 5K or 6K and then you get a company car with your next job, sell it for ~8K and your in the money

the problem is, they guys who will come in to sell everything off dont care less about actually selling the stuff... theyll check the book value and tell you to sod off.... (Ive had quite a bit of experience with them!)

not so long ago I offered 5k for a mincer hopeing Id get it cheap.... and the pratt on the phone actually laughed at me!.... 2 months later it went to auction and didnt meet the reserve so didnt sell.... they phone me a week later and I got it for £1100 !

(woot + last laugh = WOOT II - the revenge of woot)

The thing is i wont have two cars, im selling the smart as its still worth about £10k so the Leon will be my only car.

Also i have had the Leon from new as a company car and know it, if i buy something else there is always a chance you are gonna buy a dog.

Im going to work Monday in my smart anyway as if i go in the Leon and they insist on having the keys i cant get home again!

Ill make an offer of £4k and leave it with em, its worth a try.

Always worth adding that you might be able to find some more depending. How did it go BTW?

Ive offered 5K and they are mulling it over.

Im still working at the moment for 2 weeks possibly a month with the administrators so at least i know ill get paid.

Its like a grave yard here and it was quite hard yesterday seeing people i have worked closely with for the past 3 years leaving and not knowing if i will see any of them again :/
