Gilette Fusion POWER

I just splashed out @ boots and got myself a new Gilette Fusion power, spare blades, the spacial fusion shaving gel and some gilette aftershave balm.

Came to £27 in all, which I consider to be quite a lot.

Howver just had my first shave with it and I am pretty impressed. Its noticably better than my Mach3 (standard) and my Braun/Nivea electric thing, perhaps because of the new blade, or perhaps becasue it vibrates  :-)

I useually get loads of trouble with shaving rashes but using all the products sorted me right out.

The little precision singla blade on the back seems a little pointless tho, didnt work too well for me.

Anyone else been lured by the shiney goodness?

Mug soap: 90c
boar brush: $5
bag o Bics: $2

So maybe 4-5GBP for the year. Single edges are far faster to shave with, far cheaper, and dont give you any cuts or bumps with good technique. Cant find me ancient double-edge razor, or Id be using that. Shaving should always offer the small chance of killing yourself, otherwise you take the fun out of it.

you mean one of these?
Wilkinson Sword Classic

I use one, they are pretty bloody good tbh.  You just have to realise they are more likely to cut you than one of the fancy crap razors, but they give by far the best shave short of a cut-throat razor.

Indeed, they take practice, and the shave is really just as good as a cutthroat--you need the same sort of steely determination and mild fear to use them.

I dont begrudge anyone their fancy shaving stuff though. Im hairy, but not coarsely beardy like some folks that need all the help they can get. Ive known guys that could wear out a Bic in a single shave. :macho:

LMAO, have to say I was thinking that myself     ;)

I wouldnt spend that much on a gimmicky blade, no way. Something to look after your skin, maybe, but not the blade itself. A sharp, single blade bic does as good/better a job than any Mach III or the new four/five blade nonsense. I dont see the point in having it vibrate either. Traditional barbers would use a cut-throat and give you the best shave of your life - they dont strap four of them together parallel edge to edge and sit on a running washing machine while shaving.

I guess I cant be too critical, as I use a vibrating toothbrush. Mmmm, oralgasm.

mach 3 here, but I market tested the fusion when it was being developed and it was pretty impressive tbh. Too expensive imo though.

Lol, guess im on my own then!

It was expensive but tbh the razor was £10, 4 extra blades another £10, foam £4 and after shave balm £3.

I was going to buy new blades for my mach3 but they were £10 then I got carried away with the old its only a few pounds more.

I was supprised by how well the vibrating works, i was sceptical at first but it does help, stops the razor getting caught as you move it.

Id like to be manly enough to use the medieval insturments of war that you guys use, but tbh id rather have something shiney that takes batteries.

ahh, its excellent. mechanically sound and highly engineered.  Unlike the piece of plastic crap.  I also have a rolls razor (used very occasionally when im out of blades) and a Wilkinson Sword "traveller" shaving kit made fomr stainless steel.  That fits nicely in a box the size of a cig packet.

Also, i buy 5 blades every 2 weeks, that costs me 50p for five blades  8)
