It might seem obvious, so take some bodies and stuff 5,000 calories in each of them, doesnt always work that easily though. Neither does losing weight.

Losing weight should be easy if you have the determination.  Its a simple concept.
Eat less calories than you use daily.  Stop parking your car at the closest space at work/supermarket.
Dont use the lifts at work.

I know Im getting to be a bit of a tubby bugger, but Im using the excuse of the weather stopping me cycling to work.
That and takeaways on lateshift :D

It starts off with a bit on research being carried out at a jail, volunteers were given time off if they took part. Initially they wanted those involved to put on 25% of their weight, easy enough in prison, no exercise and fill them up with food. For some it wasnt that easy though, two stuck at 21% and one at 18%, none would go higher despite being fed a staggering 10,000 calories a day.

When slimming your body automatically assumes that you are under starvation conditions, and acts accordingly. For some they would almost have to stop eating entirely. The problem only gets worse later on, people who have lost 10% of their weight and then go onto a diet that provides adequate calories still feel hungry, combined this explains the diet rebound phenomenon which results in yo-yo dieting. It seems your body has an ideal weight built in and it will try to maintain it.

yea its obvious that some people stay slimmer easier than others, but im in agreement with soopahfly.

im deffo on the wrong side of tubbyness but i admit that im extremely lazy and eat complete crap, so i wont be losing weight anytime soon.

its the people who eat crap and dont exercise and then complain that they cant lose weight who are complete turds

How about people (like me) who eat loads, do no exercise yet are still skinny buggers (6" tall and only 9 1/2 stone).

"Horizon asks why are thin people not fat?"

Natural high metabolism..... is the answer horizon..... what a waste of money and time for tv show.

Theres a price to pay for having a natural high metabolism (being skinny) is that you may be able to eat as much as you want and not gain weight (unlike fatties who can tell there unhealthy by looking in the mirror) skinnies cant, also being skinny doesnt mean your more healthier than some obese persons diet that you may rival, i guess there is a false illusion that skinny means healthy.

So theres fatties from over eating with a normal metabolism, theres fat people with a low metabolism who are on weight watchers for a lifetime and a day....

ps dont let my name fool you :P \0/

i only saw a few min of the film, but i think the point was that some people just cant put on more weight, no matter how much they ate...

when they did the experiments with prisoners, they were trying to increase there weight by 25%.... but some couldnt do it... one guy was eating 10,000 calories a day, but his weight wouldnt increase anymore... (iirc he increased his weight by 18% up to this point)

you cant put that down to a high motabalisim....

watched it, I just really envy the guy whos body deals with excess food by turning it into more muscle. Would be so cool to just sit and pig out on food to build muscle instead of actually having to work out.

Thin people arent fat cos they dont stuff their faces til their lung fill with chocolate sauce.

I bet if those skinny people stuck to that diet for 10yrs like most fat people theyd get fat and nasty.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.
