I am off...

...to see Diablo Swing Orchestra at the Purple Turtle this evening!

Sad as it is, this is the first gig Ive ever been to, 5 days before I turn 25 ><

I like the band but I hate loud noises and crowded spaces, so it should be interesting, but I figure I have at least got to go to one gig in my life just so I know ><

wear ear plugs

I have a set of Docs proplugs that I wear at gigs, they only have a pin sized hole  to allow sound in so you get the full sound, but less volume, yet still get the sound on skin that brings music to life live.

normal foam ear are a good 2nd and cost pennys.

Ears humming afterwards are a sign of damage, I always wear ear plugs at loud events.

If you dont burst an eardrum it isnt loud enough.

I used to think like that till I got Tinitus, from a pub gig, its not good never being able to hear silence just a constant ring when quiet :(

On my phone at my friends in London. The gig was bloody amazing. im a  total convert, having previously  thought live recordings sounded terrible. best night EVER!

It was loud, things sound a little quieter today, but I dont think it was  uber loud from what I can gather. The crowd was amazing too,  for such a  small venue!

Ill go and watch stuff live that I would never watch on TV, have done some pretty odd ones in the past including classical and folk music.

Also been to some pretty big rock concerts, in Newcastle football ground.

Ive been to some absolutely brilliant gigs and some been subject to some awfull bands, both support acts and local pubs.

I remember the worst one just kept having feedback problems all night.  Practically got booed off.  Live sound comes down to the sound of the artist, the venue acoustics and the sound engineers.  I live the Birmingham Academy as a venue but the sound is awfull.  The best I have been too for acoustics is the O2 arena.

There was a tiny bit of feedback at points, or something, but it wasnt really that much aof a deal or noticeable. The problem will have been the number of people on the tiny stage and the range of instruments being played! It was truly amazing :D
