So I'm fat, but have a marathon to do in 2 weeks. This will be interesting.
Last year I entered myself and my mate Moz in (we were training a lot at the time) without telling him. He got in, I didn't. Fair do's - he went for it top lad. Then in October he got diagnosed with terminal cancer and given 12 months to live. Despite the heart ache of facing leaving his wife and 4 very young kids, he determined to do the marathon and leave a legacy his family could be proud by raising £10k for charity - absolute hero. Needless to say I had to join him so I got a charity place.
Unbearably Moz died last weekend just 3 weeks from the marathon, its one of the hardest things I've ever had to deal with. Dooms was a great friend of his too.
So now it's me that is doing the marathon without him, an ironic turnaround from our original situation. I can't run it, no way so I'll be walking it and doin whatever I need to do to get in under 8 hours to ensure I get a medal for Moz.
I've already done my charity obligation target, but if anyone would like to chuck a pound or two into the team fund (Moz's fund) to help it get to £10k we'd all be eternally grateful :
