other options of course are to simply find an unoccupied property that is up for rent & jump the fence to use the pool/have a party - not even breaking the law or doing anything dodgy then.

yep - serious is almost spot on

it will cost 5K per week to rent so 260k per year

Get ourside London, up to the North East and that sort of money would *BUY* you a very reasonable house outright.

It would down south as well, just not in London. I live in Dunstable which is about 30 miles North of London. £260k would buy you a four bedroom semi easily. OK, not the mansion that youd get up north but at least theres work down here.

/me ducks :P

It would do well in cardiff too. Not necessarily in the CITY but itd get you a nice house in the lands of suburbia surrounding it.

Might be worth it if I was looking to retire but not really worth it at the moment - problem is Im looking for work after resigning from my job last week & there isnt much of it in that region - at least there isnt any that pays a decent wage.

Its not just London that is that expensive ;)

Im in Brighton at the moment and £260k would only get you a 3b/room in a decent part of town. Cheaper is avalible but you wouldnt want to live there.

You can get a 3 bedroom old Victorian cottage in my hood for £120K and have a three mile drive to downtown. :P

Ive got a five bedroom brick built terraced town house right in the centre of North Shields (shops just around the corner, pub across the street) which I bought with my brother for £72k a couple of years back. Although I had to spend another £2.5K on new windows, £1,400 on a new central heating boiler and £600 ion a new fireplace and gas fire for the living room, although the thing never gets switched on. Overall we have still put in less than £80k. TBH I dont want to find out what its worth on the open market but I suspect its worth a little more than weve paid out.

Presently trying to get the government to pay for cavity wall insulation, another thing for Sam and all those lovely tax payers to contribute to :)

I was looking at three bedroom houses in Whitley bay, seems to be some nice ones for about £160k in easy walking range of the beach.

I fancy this but its in Sunderland

Its also about £750K but says POA...
