New Tekforums theme is live!

'Ello everyone :yarr:

The new design is at a stage to go live, so it is! There's probably still a few small fixes and no doubt people will spot little things here and there, but you've been kept waiting long enough now.

Liam said once the few bits left are done if people hate the bubbles and can not get used to them we can duplicate it and do a non bubble version. :cheers:

Also I suggest 150 by 150 avatars are the way to go for sure now ;)


Oh and if you absolutely detest this new one for some reason, you can still switch back from inside your profile settings.

I think if the tekforums logo was blended into the background, and the speech bubbles were a blue it would be better, not so sure of the white ones.

Nige forgot to add about the logo.

The old Tek Blue background was at a time of CRT. It looked sh*tE on LCD's and me and Nige found a better blue.
We want to do a new logo comp to get a nicer updated logo to go with the site and properly have a png24 up there.

In terms of the messages - it is different and will take time to get used to but when you add youtube videos, text colours, spoliers, code etc it all looks easier to read.

- Do you notice peoples actual posts now over before? Easier to see their message to ready?
- Can you see which everyone said?

The bubbles will never be a blue, there is no point to that and as mentioned this will go for just the main background in another version.

Lots of tweaks and we are ready for the bashing about the site.
I hope people give the bubbles a chance, I been using the theme here for 2 weeks making changes based on what I did locally and just read things a lot better. It can be tweaked to be less white and more grey etc if need be as well.... All open to feedback.

That is why it is live now. At the point where it is small things to improve and then the general feedback to make it work better for everyone. Not everyone will like of course, never going to please everyone.

Compare the thread to the front page though, the front page is really easy on the eyes, the white boxes aren't really, imo.

As a note - I am on mac's and they are bright as hell and looks fine. But it is a contrast. Will see if people adjust but options coming anyway :)

I hate to sound negative, especially after all the hard work you have put in, but I really do not like the text bubbles, they are far to bright and distracting imo. A non-bubble version would be my preferred choice.

Other than that I can not fault the design at all and think you have done a great job.  :cheers:

Ps. Everything else is great, i love the Avatar functions and big clean avatars
