Pants :(
on: January 20, 2009, 10:40:44 AM

Dropped it whilst taking it off for a shower, fell about 1 foot before clipping the side of the washbasin gah. And I got this watch so I wouldnt have to pay the rip-off battery replacement fee... ><

I got bought nice digital watches and so on over the years growing up and I kept breaking them and leaving them in a pocket and going through washing machine etc.
Mum and dad got me a nice one for 21st. Still got it, bar some of the colouring on the metal being worn its fine because its toughened glass, water proof to a silly depth and titanium, lol. Think they were telling me something hehe.

Either cheap ones which last a year or two or a sturdy expensive ones which lasts a lifetime.

If its expensive take it back to the shop you bought it from and ask, as soopha says you can get replacements. If you are lucky they might also give you one free, or it may have a lifetime guarantee.

My present one is a Xonix 1GB, its perfect. The previous one I used is a Casio, it also has perfect glass, but the bezel is plastic and highly worn. No idea why Casio now use plastic bezels but I havent bought another one.

You can often get replacement button cells from £1 shops on cards, they contain a few types and several of each.

Yeah I know the glass is replaceable, its off to the service centre to get sorted. Its not cheap either :( I know what neXus means about toughened watches, my 21st birthday present was a citzen divers watch and thats been fine, apart from the £40 for a battery replacement (as its a divers watch with depth gauge etc it HAS to be done by a service centre).

Im not so much worried as gutted, as I had gotten the watch for chrimbo on the hopes that, being solar powered, Id never have to fork out for a battery replacement again, and instead I am guessing this is gonna sting the wallet, will wait and see!

The same people that still have those reflective discs with video data on them.

I had a 30-odd kg rolled-up metal projector screen casing fall on the glass on mine.  From about six feet.  Not a scratch.

Got the estimate....£75!

Any saving made by using skywatches is now gone, but at least i guess it proves his watches are genuine!

Bah, got the watch back today and there was still a small piece of glass in the watch face.

Needless to say I called the service centre to tell them, and asked if they could reimburse me for the postage seeing as at £80 (inc the first lot of postage) its not on to fork out another £5 to post it back for them to fix their mistake :(

She was totally apologetic though so thats cool. I was wondering whether it was expensive to do with the amount of small bits of glass, they must have gotten throughout the workings.
