It's nice to know you think I put a price on the forums, when I didn't even ask Andy to pay towards the hosting.

Sorry, I just plain don't understand your animosity towards Tekheads for wanting to retain their support avenue on a decent forum full of helpful, friendly users, ex-staff and people generally knowledgable, interested in hardware and willing to help. You won't tell your mates you come on here because there's a pseudo-affiliation going on? I mean really, if it offends you so much collapse the subforms or I'll turn on the ignore options, just for you. I probably could even give you a special member permissions level that means you will never see a single post in those forums or even know they exist.

I/we moved the site to keep better control and upgrade the software, there was no active decision to exclude Tekheads and they were more than welcome come to an arrangement with me, I left the old forums in place for them to continue with as they pleased. I wish I had got a free graphics card now, I've been such a fool :(

There's a lot of chat I'm having with Mods, members, various people on how to push the Forums and (dare I use the terminology) 'Tekforums brand' forward, possibly with a site frontend for reviews, etc. It's not just a case of moving to line pockets, I/we want to actively improve the forums and make it bigger and better to get back towards the best times.

I'm sorry, I love the idea but i dont think growth will be as good as it could be if we look to be affiliated. Though you definitely stand far more chance of getting review samples from tek than manufacturers. so i guess it has its advantages.

Really though, I just want to know what the reasoning is. it isn't traffic.
There is no animosity and i never said it offended me. please don't put words into my mouth. i just wanted to know why...

Well we've been through this a few times before I think, you and I, the question constantly seems to come back up though and I've tried to give as clear and as comprehensive a response as possible - it was starting to seem like irrational animosity to me at least.

If it all doesn't work please do feel free to say "I told you so" later on. :))

If thats the case I'd be interested in helping with 'marketing' and definitely in creating / adding content for some kind of front end. We actually have quite a lot of skills across the forum and we only really tap into a fraction of these as a resource but this could be expanded. I can't think how many times a week I google for an AD or Exchange related solution and find the answer in some random forum - we could easily get that kind of thing going on here.

Yeah that's all well and good but of all those hits for hardcore whale sex searches are many going to stick around for technical discussion?

I am fine with the support forums, Just seen the tekheads logo in the top right now.
Have to question that one. Fine having the support, agree with all things nige said there but the tekheads logo at the top does not need to be there at all.
They are getting link backs and traffic for SEO purposes and people charge a lot of money for that sort of link building traffic. If they are getting a link up for free - shouldn't be the case now its moved away from their servers, in my opinion anyway.

I'm sure Andy will be fixing the reciprocal link his end soon enough ;) besides which, there should be a forum deal banner sitting up there at some point, makes no difference to me whether it linked to SMF like before or Tekheads.

Cool. There are a few bits like karma etc and I'll tidy it all up. I'll Photoshop the posting layout I have in my head and post it so people can see if the like it before I do it of course.

Hopefully everyone will just say it's sh*t hot.

Oh to that... Archive.org only has the main page indexed. If anyone has screenshots or links to the thread layout of the forums before the jforums software it would help a lot.
