I'll install this when he's updated for RC4 (should be very soon from looking at the support pages):

That looks better. Although at first I thought it said Spank-O-Matic and wondered what you'd linked to! :)
Career, Wife, Mortgage... my sig was better when it listed guitars and PC's and stuff!

I've sorted the clock, it's 24 hour now.

Also I'm not sure what the deal is with the most online, I can't see any reason for it and I tried recounting the stats. It seems to be right! The only thing I can think of is a lot of guests/search bots came on at that time.

I see the Karma system has already been removed lol. I'm actually surprised it had lasted this long tbh, I only gave it a day tops.

Karma systems are teh suck anyways.

Let's get this back to being about Tekheads Support, as opposed to an extension of the suggestions forum.

I've got free postage from Scan.co.uk because I have over 20 posts on Hexus.  As such, I do 99% of my shopping there.
Any plans of offering us anything similar?

Indeed, one of the reasons I use scan for 99% of my stuff is free next day delivery and can order upto like 7pm. It's very useful :)

It is free delivery on orders over £99 excl. VAT with Tekheads. I don't think I've ever missed out on this (my orders are usually for high end items) and despite it being described as free 3-5 days shipping my orders are almost always here 2 days after ordering. The one time an order wasn't early, the tracking showed it had been sent out on the day I placed my order. Can't fault 'em there!

I would imagine if Tekheads did offer free shipping on orders less than £99 excl. VAT they would lose money. From my experience in this industry (I've worked for a couple of component retailers since graduation - moved away from that now), I found that profit margins on computer components are usually very small. It is very difficult to compete with the big players and I'm pretty sure Tekheads are not in the same league as Scan when it comes to buying power. Pretty damn sure!  ;)

Soopahfly should know how tight the margins are too as he used to work for them as well, but I can't blame him for asking either ;D

I don't think we're quite busy enough yet for it to work, Hexus is a much busier place and that will mean its more worthwhile for Scan to do that offer.

Andy, feel free to show us otherwise and offer free delivery anyway :w00t:

I am confused though.
Thought this forum was getting away with the association a bit. Then after a chat the support forums are back in because Tekheads need a medium for that (even though they hardly used it) which is fine. Then logo appears at top and now their is talk of loads of inter association etc.
I do not get it.
Nothing against Tekheads but things seem to be going to total opposite of what I thought was the idea and if things go the route they seem Tekheads are getting a sweet deal for nothing considering someone else is paying for hosting, others putting time in etc and they are using the great people here as free support etc.

IF this is going to be the case then Tekheads need to be offering things in return with regular competitions for folks of these forums as well as money off/sweet deals for forum members.
I only see that as fair otherwise I really do not get the Even more association then less.

Again I got nothing against Tekheads but I just seems the total opposite of what was said and if it goes this Route Tekheads are getting a good thing for nothing and that does not seem right.

It's really not that complicated. We are still not affiliated. In summary:

I/we copied/moved the forums away and now have full control of everything - great.
I left the support sections behind to Andy to do with whatever he wanted - fair.
Andy contacted me to ask about putting the forums back on, to which I agreed based on:

The way you have the new forum seems very neat. Would make sence to put the tekheads section at the bottom? To keep everyone happy? If you could sort me a banner spot im happy to come up with some forum based offers we could link back.
- great!

So what we have is not an affiliation, its just a mutually beneficial agreement. They get a forum section and a banner spot, we get some good deals and more traffic.

We're not responsible for anything Tekheads related (outside of moderating the Tekheads section posts) and they are not responsible for anything forums related.

Anything else being discussed here is really an extension of this in ways that should be aiming at increasing our traffic/popularity/web presence, not specifically associating us with Tekheads.

The quickest, easiest, dirtiest way to get hits and traffic is for tekheads to do a deal of the day that makes a desirable product the cheapest in the UK, then get it 'hot' on hotukdeals linking back to here.

- Really was all about having some nice control to improve forums more then anything so agreed :)
- Agreed, that is fair. As I said, I got no problem with it as long as they use it. They never really did before, I felt they were just after the traffic.

I just really want to say that when you look at it "We are still not affiliated." does not really apply, As a long term user at a glance it already looks like the forums are. A new user would defiantly get that impression.

This is all on the - conversation rather then moan line of tone here folks. I think I am rightly just asking questions....

I think loosing the logo in top right and with new theme and tweaks and once its all looking good introduce the banner adds again to generate some revenue and tekheads can use them just like anyone else :)
