The NHS is on the bones of its posterior... cash crisis is the phrase being used...

What are the government doing?

Giving stomach stapling operations to KIDS... How about, giving them a diet sheet with a set, balanced regime to follow and an exercise plan; and also telling their parents to smash up their childs Playstations?

That should save a few quid...

Oh yes and Hewitt is also considering sending asthma patients home (plus those with cardiac disorders) for treatment...

It really is true that this government like every other will never ever tackle the real issues, they will merely implement policies which will make them popular with the vast majority of voters... How many parents will jump at the chance to offload yet more responsibilities for their childs well being on to someone else? Its a joke.

For those who are weight challenged I would say that prevention is better than cure and the parents need to be educated as to the right foods for their kids. TBH I would like to see a lot of high calorie junk food ingreedients such as fat and sugar either banned or heavily taxed.

As to the treating people at home, in many instances its actually the best way, my mother refused to go into hospital dispite severe heart problems over and since Christmas, shes in tomorrow for an echocardiograph. For her home treatment would be much better. You are also less likely to pick up resistant bugs like MRSA at home.

Providing their home is clean asthma patients would be better off out of hospital.

The fly in the ointment is that home treatment might be more expensive than hospital...
