Tissot
on: October 06, 2010, 19:10:37 PM
Just bought a Tissot for my wife. Gold one with a pearl face. Seems decent enough, paid 330 in some chain jeweller because I want to be able  to exchange or return it without issue if she doesnt like it.

Decent watches for the money?

Most of the swiss names I would know started at closer to 1000. Most under 500 seemed to be fashion brands which didnt seem a good idea.

When I was looking at watches which had a compass and all that gubbins in there, I was mostly restricted to Tissot or a Casio. From what I read I ended up with the casio. It wasnt about Tissot as a brand being bad, but their t-touch technology is known to be buggy as hell with lots of people having to return/replace theirs. Kinda put me off em.

You should look more specifically at the movements the different watchmakers use, some expensive brands still use poor movements even at the post 1k price mark. I think Rolex is even on that list, I couldnt tell you which others though. Theres a good thread on DVD Forums about watches, some brands come consistently recommended like Omega at the high end, Christopher Ward at the more budget consciencious end.
