Toothbrushes with tongue thingies

Quick question really, does anyone actually use the tongue "brush" on their toothbrush, if they have one?

And if so, can you actually do it without producing a gag reflex?  :puke:

Do these things actually work then? It always looked like gimmicky crap to me.

Mouthwash that shows you the bits = gimmicky crap. Fact.

Colgate pro weekly clean stuff = Surprisingly good and not gimmicky.

Floss = good if you can be arsed to stick with it regularly like youre meant to.

How so? I thought it kinda made sense depending on what it was binding to?

Well ive been using it and it seems to work no better than any other mouthwash, the only different being it makes a congealing mess in your sink. Im switching back to listerine.

Well, making the gunk visible would have no added benefit to cleaning your mouth out, apart from potentially grossing you out if theres a sh*tload of it in the sink.

I used a trial and I wonder at it, as over time the amount of gunk does decrease, suggesting it is removing whatever it binds to from your mouth, whether thats a good thing or not I dunno.

I did also prefer the milder flavour to (b)listerine :D

The tongue scrapers do work, they remove build ups of bacteria within your mouth but you can also do it with the normal bristle part of your toothbrush, as for gagging, try to stick out your tongue slightly and do it in a mirror, you dont really need to go so far back you gag.

As for mouthwash and floss, as long as the mouthwash you use contains fluoride and you use it at least once a day (preferably before bed) and you floss daily then you should have a fairly healthy mouth and gums, oh and remember to brush in small circles half on your teeth half on your gums when you brush, if it bleeds its saying brush more - but dont scrub....

I just use the brush itself like *she-devil* mentioned, no need for any gimmicky rubber bits.

Even then anything even remotely like that is akin to sticking your fingers down your throat!

It mechanically removes bacterial layers from your tongue, so it does work.

As to the choke reflex, that depends on the person using it, some people have a lot more difficulty than others.

not really..  your tounge is full of texture & crevices, etc. Really need somthing that will get down in there where the dirt is.

Get a proper tounge scraper & theres less gagging as you cant put it to the back of your throat.
Also only takes a few scrapes & as it covers a wider area, theres less chance of missing  a spot.
