ref the tariffs stuff, he's previously mentioned back at the G7 that he'd like to slash tariffs, it isn't actually the inconsistent position it appears. He's basically trying to treat the presidency like running one of his businesses and strong-arming a counterparty into accepting his terms.... not exactly the conventional diplomatic approach though this time it has sort of worked in so far as the threat of car tariffs prompted Junker to get on a plane and make a concession + agree to further mutual cutting of tariffs
ref the Russian stuff, I'd put that down to stupidity mostly, I'm not really one for conspiracies. I think he's screwed up there, he knew some of his team were meeting Russians, he's then tried to deny it when he realised they shouldn't do that and pretend he wasn't aware - that could be where he comes undone and gets impeached (if the Senate and House of Representative have some backbone). The other stuff re social media etc.. they've done that unilaterally and the pee pee tapes (though I guess possible given his porn star/hooker habit) is a bit far fetched.
The other thing is the way he's handled the media, he's literally been caught red-handed not only cheating on his wife but also arranging a dodgy payoff, he's a Republican partly reliant on the good old Christian, family values vote etc.. and yet they seem to willfully ignore all this stuff. Perhaps his constant labeling of the media/CNN as "fake news" has helped with a bit of conditioning, perhaps some people only care about what Fox news says or perhaps US politics has become so damn polarised that they are fully aware that he's been utterly reprehensible in his personal life, treated his wife like crap and yet in spite of that they still would rather vote for him over a Democrat candidate.... perhaps all three of those are factors.
Oh and on the topic of Trump if anyone didn't see this before, it sums it all up pretty nicely. I don't always agree with youtube character "Jonathan Pie" but I've got a lot of respect for him and in this instance, he is absolutely on the money with regards to Trump winning the election:
