The old empty barn was put into a Dads Army episode and the first part really built up until Captain Mannering told everyone to gather around and Fraiser was going to tell them the story, at which point the endline was issued and Mannering looked a proper idiot.
A lot of jokes depend on context and being done at just the right moment, I saw the above one years ago and its still funny when I think of how it was presented
