My IXUS 900Ti has lost the ability to auto-focus. I think i may have dropped it at somepoint on a night out. It will still focus when it is zoomed in 2x+ but when its not it just stays blurred. I can only asume the zoom is slightly out of line.
Its out of warranty with Jessops - whats my best/cheapest option to get it fixed?

try pushing or pulling it gently as it may have jumped out of the gear teeth, but if they are broken or striped then you would most likely be looking at a new cam, due to price to repair to value of digital cam

If a compact is out of warrantee then unfortunately its hardly worth repairing.

Argh! I bought it on 17/02/2007 so thats 21 months of use for ~£200 :-(
I assume the manufacturer only covers 12 months? I didnt extend the warrenty cos i was strapped for cash. It would be frustrating to through the camera out because of what look like such a minor problem - everything works except the autofocus when its zoomed right out!

Stupid question/statement probably, but have you made sure its not got some random mode/feature where if its in a certain mode, it loses certain functions?
Ive found that on my olympus, it has 2 super macro modes. 1 is normal, the other turns on a little EL light to help with focusing. Now, youd have thought that as theyre both super macro, the only difference being the light, that minimum focus distance would be the same. But its not, the distance is about 2-3x as much when the light is on than when its not, making it totally pointless, as you get just as much light by moving the camera that far back in the non lit mode!
