cheep and cheerful compact

My little sisters compact has died, after about 4 years of stirling service in the face of university parties (it was mine before she had it) its battery cover has fallen off. While it is temporarily held together with the mighty gaffer tape, it is time for her to get a new camera.

She isnt really that interested in photography, its mostly for snapshots, but she will want something which can produce a decent image, and money is pretty tight so looking for the ~£100 bracket (less if possible).

my bias towards Pentax glass drew my attention to the BenQ C740, which has an SMC Pentax lens and can be had for £85. Unfortunately the only review I can find of it is rather less than complimentary of most of its characteristics other than the lens.

Any suggestions welcome
