Another 1GB in a stick, is like £50 for my ol beast.. PC2700 DDR
My main issue is that I currently have 3 slots, 2 occupied with 512 sticks running in duel channel mode
So if I add any more RAM I immediately lose Duel-Channel mode (probably no biggie really
) but I suppose the main problem I have, is if I want more than 2GB of RAM I need to consolidate those 2 sticks down to one
as well as buying the extra RAM on top, so it gets expensive
I think Ill upgrade my whole PC eventually, as another limitation is the CPU (Currently have an Athlon 2600+)
Probably best just to hold out a while longer, for DDR2 to actually be an improvement over DDR and see what happens... I wouldnt mind a greener PC (lower wattage and the like) which are just around the corner from Intel and AMD
- I only need the horsepower for Hugin, and the odd game when I can get them to work
the other 75% of the time I dont need anything special at all.
