So come on, where are all the photos of snow and snowmen etc?

Seeing as Im off depending on how wet it is outside I might whack the 100mm macro on and go for a jaunt down the road to the local nature reserve / forest to get some shots.

I just did a run to the hilly forest near me...interesting...photos to follow.

All I know is tomorrow my local roads are literally going to be ice rinks.

So it was interesting driving, easier in the snow on the way out than it was in the frozen slush on the way back. I decided to turn my car around in the gravel car park so itd be easier to get out on my return and proceeded to get the tires well and truly stuck in the snow resulting in several stalls before I just decided itd be ok where it was, as hardly anyone was about. On the way out it was fun as people coming and going had compacted the snow down to an icerink, and the forestry commission have put 2 big white limestone boulders at the entrance to prevent travellers from going in the car park...just wide enough to get the car through so it was a case of lining up 50m away and then hoping you were alright as if not youd just slide straight into them

Cheers dude. WB was a pain to sort out (all post processed unfortunately) - used my 50mm prime as I didnt want to take a zoom out as it was still snowing pretty heavily when I left and other than the 100mm macro thats all I have!

How much snow did you get at clapham? Photos seem to make it look less than it did when youre there, supposedly its the most snow Bournemouth has had in 13 or 17 years, which I can believe...

I really like that one with the warm orange glow of the lights, with a bit of Photoshoppery it could make a very cosy winter wallpaper.

remember people, your cameras meter thinks the world is (on average) grey. Therefore when photographing a world which is mostly white, it will tend to under-expose. Dont forget your exposure compensation (or snow scene mode if youre using a compact and feeling lazy).

I tried to get a shot of my friends garden yesterday morning at dawn but my phone camera is a little of a let down.

I love the cropping on the portrait shots of the trees, it really gives a the trees a feel of height.
