Some photos
on: March 02, 2011, 18:04:10 PM
Random collection of photos from the last month or so, thoughts?

Got Jessops to print this and they cocked the colours up, tempted to take it back to the shop and show them what it should look like. I know it's quite red, but still, it looks pretty pants printed.

And last but not least, a photo which royally freaks me out. Kathryns mum was looking at a rock pool whilst I was doing a panoramic. When I processed it and tweaked the colours to black and white, it just made the image slightly "supernatural". It makes me think of things like the end of Blair Witch, or Asian horror, with a spirit with their back to the camera. Please tell me I'm not the only one thinking this? Also I know I could take her out of the shot, but I think then it'd be pretty generic. As it is the eye takes in a generic B&W coast shot, and then notices the dark blob, and then realises it's an old woman with her head bowed...

The second 'four' candles one is my fave, it's an awesome pic, I assume you used a tripod for that one?

No tripod used for any of them, Might be a bit of an illusion in terms of the room was fairly light, I just used f2.8 and a high shutter speed...

Fully agree, some serious improvement.

The lighting on the candle shots is fantastic, and I love the view and the flower shot.

Really nice shots.

some places (I suspect Jessops will be included in this) have an annoying habit of doing automatic colour correction even if you don't ask them to. Basically they're assuming the customer doesn't know what he/she is doing, and for the likes of Jessops 9/10 times they're right and any apparent colour cast is the result of bad white balance rather than artistic intent. Your shot looks great, but an automatic dohicky will see too much red and try to make the frame average to grey, messing it up totally in the process.

Aye, I'm guessing they'd reprint it if I took it back and pointed out the obvious quality issue. Dunno if I CBA though.

There's a megashark in this pic.
I know sh*ts bad right now with all that starving bullsh*t and the dust storms and we are running out of french fries and burrito coverings.
