Title: 6.5tone re-classed to 3.5 ton ?
Post by: knighty on June 14, 2006, 22:49:17 PM
anyone know what it takes these days to have a 3.5+ton van re-classes to 3.5ton ?

had one changed over years and years ago when it saved us Ã,£50 a year on tax... (i was only a little kid at the time).... all we had to do was take it to a guy at a testing place with a weigh bridge who said it was under 3.5 ton and signed a bit of paper for us...

I know a really nice iveco box van Id like to buy... but its a 6.5tonner..... Id need to re-class it to 3.5ton to use it.... some of the guys at work (including me) are too young so when we passed out tests were limited to 3.5 ton.... and more importantly anything over 3.5 ton needs an operators licence and a mini MOT thing every 6 weeks :o

so does anyone know whats involved with getting it done these days ?
its a bloody nice van and I dont want to miss it.... plus itll take the weight better than the 3.5tonners we normally use :)

eh ?

its a 6.5 tonner.... its pretty much just a big van, not a lorry... so they restrict them to 6.5 ton most of the time :)

I just thought you took it to the test center in sandy lane gosforth (follow race course signs) and they do a plating test and issue,  a new plate

Just to clarify - before the deadline you automatically got classes B and C1 after you only got the B part (in addition to the f,k,p crap).

B = Cars etc up to 3.5t
C1 = Up to 7.5t
C= Any weight non-articulated
C+E = Any weight including all trailer sizes - ie articulated.
